Bemus Point’s 8th Annual Fall Fest September 16th-18th

September 12, 2016 By M. Mayshark

Just when summer starts to wane and you think the last boat in Bemus has been docked or the final fireworks display is nothing but smoke trails, it’s time to get ready for the Bemus Point Fall Fest. The whole village is decorated with corn stalks and scarecrows to set the stage. It is time to let summer slowly sail away and to welcome the pleasures of autumn. This year the festivities will be September 16th -18th.

Fall Fest is a Bemus tradition sponsored by the Bemus specialty shops. Did you know that Bemus has 12 specialty shops? Each one is different and each one is run by passionate, creative people who search the planet for wonderful goods.

What You Can Expect to Find in Bemus Point During Fall Fest

During Fall Fest, each participating store offers a “Pick-a-leaf” discount as part of the weekend celebration. This means that once happy shoppers have collected what they would like to purchase, they pick a fall leaf from a cluster at each shop. No peeking.  The leaf has a discount clearly marked on it ranging from 5-50% off. The discount is applied to the customer’s entire order at the register when they check out at each location.  Some stores feature refreshments and fall decorations, and others host in-store events. Restaurants feature delicious fall dishes and drinks designed specifically for the fest.

In addition to the stores and restaurants of Bemus, there is a petting zoo that sets up on Saturday and Sunday in front of the Musky Mall. Children and adults are fascinated by the interesting animals that visit the town.  Carriage rides that tour the village are also very popular.  Kettle Korn is popping in the streets and vendor booths are sprinkled through the village.

Live music is also part of the tradition. Music will be offered on both Saturday and Sunday from 2-5 at several venues as an outdoor feature. Come rock with Dan Vogan in front of Cappola’s during the weekend and other local acts at various locations.

This event is a great way to see what is new at the stores and to explore the stalls. It is a perfect way to get out and enjoy the lush colors, crisp air, and all the joys of the harvest season.
