Advertorial
I have long been enamored with coconuts because of their taste. Coconut cookies, pina coladas, coconut pancakes, you name it, if it has coconut in it I am all over it. There are many wonderful ways to enjoy coconuts. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to find out that coconut isn’t only delicious, it’s actually good for you.
To sweeten the situation, I just stumbled upon an article about a recent study conducted that finds a correlation between coconut oil and belly fat. In the study, it was found that coconut oil reduces belly fat and can make you leaner and healthier overall. This is fantastic for me because I want more coconuts, but I already have plenty of belly fat. What a relief that coconut oil can help to trim down your waist.
Coconut Oil is Scientifically Proven to Reduce Fat
But why does coconut oil work better than other oils, say soybean and olive oils? Well, the key is Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCLs). These are fatty acids that have been shown to boost your metabolism. The reason for this is that the body uses them differently than longer chain fatty acids. The MCLs are metabolized more quickly than the longer chain which means that they are less likely to be stored as fat. Moreover, they have been shown to actually reduce fat as evidenced by this clinical trial done on rats.
Other studies have emerged that have shown that young men using MCLs were able to boost their energy output by 5% per day which allowed them to burn additional calories without expending extra effort. There is also further evidence that coconut oil, which is rich in MCLs, enables people who consume it to shrink their waistlines without doing anything else. But without going too deeply into the science behind the discovery, it suffices to say that coconut oil works to combat belly fat as shown in this recent study among several others.
Ways to Introduce Coconut Oil into your Diet
It might not sound appetizing to wake up and eat a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil, but do not fret, there are many other ways to painlessly work it into your diet. For example, you can start substituting it for canola, vegetable, or any other oil you normally fry with. You can use it in smoothies and some people even stir it into their morning coffee for a coconutty, creamy kick which can take the place of fattening alternatives like cream.
So, now there is no excuse for you to get out there and start using coconut oil to trim down while enjoying its unique flavor. The beauty is that you don’t have to run a mile every day or do a bunch of sit-ups to trim down on your waist during the holidays. A simple dietary change can put you on the road to a leaner physique. So, may I propose a toast to coconut oil and a healthier you! Cheers.
