This annual event (now in its third year) keeps getting better. The proceeds from last Friday night’s event will go toward innovative staff training at Family Service of the Chautauqua Region in Jamestown, NY. This will allow us to bring important services back to Chautauqua County that will make a difference in the lives of many deserving people (a great deal of whom are children).
The evening featured tasty fare from Mariner’s Pier Catering with a lush display of warm dishes which were beautifully arranged. The delicious food included salmon puffs, fresh fruit, veggies, assorted cheese, dips, and more. A medley of wine offerings, from Noble Winery and Johnson Estate with both white and red, ranging from dry to sweet made for an enjoyable experience. The tastings were elevated by friendly chatter from the vintner, a special treat that was both entertaining and informative. A tempting selection of chocolates and other confections from The Basket Company with little scoops and cellophane bags, provided for guests, has become a popular yearly tradition.
There was plenty of opportunity to relax and visit with old and new friends. JCC’s Hamilton Center was miraculously transformed into a candlelit lounge by The Family Service Staff, which was headed by Darla Hayes. Ralph “Razz” Rasmusson topped off the mood with smooth jazz provided by his Razz and Friends Jazz Trio.
The grand prize was $250.00 cash, which was won and graciously re-donated by board member Joelle Washer. In addition, there were many attractive goodies that kept everyone in a great mood. It was a glorious reflection of the kind nature of the people of Chautauqua County who are never shy to get together and pool our resources to support a worthy cause. Wining and dining are pleasant ways to spend a night with friends, but doing it with a purpose makes all the difference.
